The Random light is a resin drained yarn which is randomly coiled around an inflatable mold creating a magic translucent 3D fabric. Sounds simple but it took 3 years to develop. The Random light is the lighter way to occupy a space.

Bertjan Pot is a designer of mostly furniture and lighting. His methods are concentrated in his interest in skins of the structural and non-structural kind. He studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven. He considers theory as something to think about and something to discuss when not designing. "When it comes to designing, one should just design without being blocked by too many theories."

Random light is available in your choice of either black or white and can be specified with either an incandescent or as the Random II which includes a branded Moooi LED bulb (an etched and fully round bulb with minimal 'neck-length' to ensure a seamless connection to the chrome cap. Both version are available with either a 13 or 32 foot black cable length. The Random light has a small opening to help with replacing the light bulb.

Random Light II features:
- The round disk and metal rod are separated, which makes installing easier.
- The round disk is now a fixed position and branded with a Moooi logo.
- The elongated metal rod keeps the light bulb in the exact middle of the sphere.
