This classic design pattern was initially created as a wall-to-wall carpet. Having uncovered Ulla Ericson-Åström's original design in the Kasthall archives, product developer Peter Otell incorporated the pattern in one of Kasthall's most famous hand-tufted rugs, Moss. The new design was easy to name due to its swirly pattern made with an unruly yarn pile and protruding wool and linen threads. Virvel literally means swirl in Swedish.
Sustainability is rooted in Kasthall's history from the beginning and continues today in their work and ambition to contribute to a sustainable future. They use a circular approach to design and a fully-traceable supply chain to reduce the impact on people and planet. It is part of their commitment to local Swedish production and a made-to-order system that creates less waste. Kasthall uses third-party environmental declarations and assessment to ensure reliability.
The rug is made from wool yarn (70%) and linen (30%), custom sizes are available, please contact Hive for assistance ordering sizes not shown online. Depending on the natural materials used and the varied hand-crafted processes in production, dimensions of the rug may vary by up to 2%. Pile height is approximately 1.6".
