The 46 Armchair embodies excellent comfort and high quality materials, representing the very best of Danish Modern furniture design. It was originally designed in 1946 for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition for master cabinetmaker Niels Vodder. In the years between 1947 and 1949, Finn Juhl modified the chair into a simpler, more aerodynamic version for the furniture manufacturer Bovirke.
When it comes to Finn Juhl, compromising is not an option. House of Finn Juhl manufactures the furniture with the same values and in the same quality as it was originally intended. Without this approach it would not be possible to achieve the unique finish and delicate details that is Finn Juhl's trademark. Materials of the highest quality are the basis for creating elegant, comfortable and durable pieces of furniture that will last for generations
In this version of the 46 Chair, Finn Juhl clearly attempted to emphasize the lightness of the chair by separating the carried and the carrying elements. Beautifully crafted from a solid wooden frame in oak or walnut, combined with a seat and backrest upholstered in either textile or leather. The chair is also available without armrests.
