The trick with Homecoming was how to design a lot of furniture (a bed and a dresser) without it looking like a lot of furniture. We had to figure out how to suppress details and minimize visual clutter without losing functionality.We used the top and bottom edges of the drawer faces as pulls, so we could eliminate handles or knobs. By joining two drawer boxes with one drawer face and hiding the side rails behind, we minimized the shadow lines of the drawer reveals. We also positioned the drawers to accommodate a nightstand. We hid the feet to keep the wood surfaces clean and simple.Where we wanted to draw attention, we placed carefully selected wood veneers over thick, robust panels. The clean design, with its warm wood and luxe leather, serves as the perfect backdrop for your bedding while providing inconspicuous storage.
