The Knotwork rug is an amazing design whose surface presents a rich and complex compendium of knots of totally different styles. Made with thin strips of light brown felt, it alternates up to four types of interlacing, which follow one another and repeat in the manner of friezes. Like a knitted sweater, the rug acquires a voluminous texture that also resembles macramé.

Felt is obtained by combing wool, applying steam and pressing it. It is a compact material that does not come from a weaving process and that, according to our own experience, offers inexhaustible design possibilities because it can be cut and dyed, sewn or embroidered, braided and molded. Therefore, at GAN, they consider felt an indispensable material in the field of contemporary design.

Created by the in-house GAN design team, perhaps the most surprising thing about this creation is its manufacturing method, since it is not knotted by hand, but handmade on a manual loom.
