VL45 was originally designed in partnership with Louis Poulsen during the 1940s for the construction of the Radiohuset building in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, which was designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen. The VL45 brings the iconic design back. The globe shade is made of smooth opal glass and almost completely encases the light source emitting a beautifully uniform, diffused, glare-free illumination. The opening at the bottom of the glass produces downwards directed light.
The Radiohus Pendant consists of three layers of mouth-blown glass. The innermost and outermost layers are made of transparent polished glass, while white glass is used for the intermediate layer.
